Biobank

"The biobank collects, stores and processes human biological samples for research."

DR. Mª ANTONIA FORTUÑO CEBAMANOS
DIRECTOR. BIOBANK PLATFORM

The Biobank of the Universidad de Navarra is a research support unit specialized in the collection, processing and storage of human biological samples and their associated data, in order to make them available to the scientific community.

This platform acts as a link between donors, clinicians and researchers in order to ensure a safe and efficient treatment of biological samples and associated data. Its purpose is to promote and facilitate the use of samples in research projects, guaranteeing the ethical, legal and technical quality of the procedures.

The Biobank is authorized by the Department of Health since 2012, before the RD 1716/2011 came into force, and is registered in the National Register of Biobanks of the Carlos III Institute of Health with the reference B.0000612.

We are part of the support structures of the Navarra Health Research Institute (IdiSNA), and work in close collaboration with the Navarrabiomed Biobank, the parallel structure associated with the Navarra Hospital Complex, with which it shares protocols and sample collections.

The Biobank is integrated in the National Biobank Network, of the Carlos III Institute of Health, since its creation in 2009, both in the Retic stage and since 2014 in the Technological Platforms stage.
