Dr. Ignacio Melero, member of the Academy of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC)

The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) has appointed Dr. Ignacio Melero, co-director of Immunology and Immunotherapy at Cima and Clínica Universidad de Navarra, as a member of the Academy of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC). This is an international non-profit organization with more than 4,500 members from 63 countries, representing more than 35 medical specialties, which pursues education and scientific exchange on immunotherapy.

The SITC has recognized Dr. Melero's work for transforming the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma through immunotherapy and increasing the survival rate of patients with this disease. This liver tumor is the most common and, in most cases, drug-based strategies must be used as it is inoperable.
