A Cima Universidad de Navarra project, selected to receive a Proof of Concept grant from the European Research Council (ERC) to promote a new RNA therapy for colorectal cancer.

Dr Maite Huarte 's team will develop an RNA-based therapy designed to specifically inhibit a lncRNA molecule that plays a key role in the survival of tumour cells under stressful conditions resulting from their high proliferation rate.

The aim is to slow tumour growth and open up new avenues of treatment for patients with colorectal cancer, one of the most common cancers worldwide.

The grant, worth 150,000 euros, will allow progress to be made in translating the results obtained in the laboratory towards the development of therapeutic tools with potential clinical impact.
