RESEARCH AREAS
Principal Investigator of Group 6 and Coordinator of the Hepatic and Digestive Oncology Program of the Biomedical Research Networking Center in Hepatic and Digestive Diseases (CIBERehd).
The translational and clinical research carried out over these years has focused on therapeutic innovation in complications of cirrhosis and on the treatment of primary and secondary liver tumors, and very specifically on the development of a multidisciplinary liver cancer treatment program with innovations in surgical management (expanded criteria for liver transplantation or resection in selected patients with portal hypertension), intra-arterial techniques (chemoembolization and radioembolization), and systemic treatment (advanced therapies such as biological agents, immunotherapy, and gene therapy).

In teaching
Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Navarra.
In research
He has been co-author of fifteen chapters in specialty books, has published more than 200 articles in national and international journals, and has supervised six PhD theses.
