Professional career

Graduate (1978) and Doctor (1988), with extraordinary award, in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarra. Specialist in Internal Medicine at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. His research activity began with a three-year stay (1983-1985) in the Department of Haematology and Biochemistry at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Head of the Check-Ups Unit

He is an Internal Medicine Specialist at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

RESEARCH AREAS

His research has focussed on the basic mechanisms of oxidative stress, its relation with chronic Hepatitis C and, in the past few years, in a clinical context for metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and cardiovascular risk.

His research work has been supported by 19 research contracts in regional and national competitions.

Recognition of 6 Sexenios de Investigación, accredited by the Comisión Nacional Evaluadora de la Actividad Investigadora (CNEAI), the last one in 2014-2019.
