Cellular Metabolism Service
BIOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND CELLULAR METABOLISM PLATFORM
The Cellular Metabolism Service at Cima is oriented to study various aspects of cellular metabolism and bioenergetics.
We have the cutting-edge and exclusive technology offered by the Seahorse XFp extracellular flow analyzer (Agilent). This is the only technology that allows the functional study of cellular bioenergetics in real-time through the analysis of the main energy production pathways of the cell: mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis. This equipment offers the possibility of performing several metabolic assays in a fast and simple way, being of great interest in the study of numerous diseases and therapies in research areas such as cancer, immunology, obesity and diabetes, neurodegeneration, etc.
Our service offers the researcher multiple functional assays in adherent and non-adherent cells, as well as in mitochondria isolated from tissue or cell culture. In addition, it offers the possibility to ask for advice in the choice of the test, in the optimization of the seeding density and drug concentration, and for the interpretation of the results.

Cutting-edge technology

Seahorse XFp Analyzer
Seahorse XF analyzers measure oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR) of live cells in a multiwell plate. OCR and ECAR rates are key indicators of mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis. These measurements provide a system-level view of cellular metabolic function in cultured cells and ex vivo samples. XF analyzers perform compound addition and mixing, label-free analytical screening, and automatic real-time measurement of OCR and ECAR.
