The research groups of Cima and the Clínica Universidad de Navarra coordinated by Dr. Luis Montuenga and Dr. Luis Seijo, respectively, are participating in SPACETIME. This is a project funded with 12 million euros by the European Union, through the Cancer Mission consortium. Led by the Dutch scientists Febe van Maldegem and Marieke Fransen, this project is made up of 15 partners from 7 European countries who will carry out fundamental research on lung cancer for five years.

The Cima research group will work on biological models of lung cancer and molecular markers. "This is a very ambitious project to better understand the biology of lung cancer, using highly innovative technologies," explains Dr. Luis Montuenga, principal investigator of the Lungsearch: Screening, Early Detection, Biomarkers and New Therapeutic Targets at Cima and group leader of CIBERONC. "We will apply our experience in early detection of lung cancer to better understand the early stages of the evolution of the disease in patients," says Dr. Luis Seijo, director of the Department of Pneumology at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and specialist at the Cancer Center Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

This project aims to improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030 by preventing, curing or improving treatment for cancer patients.
